‍At some point in your life, you may find yourself in need of some help writing a very long document. It may be an essay for your university, a thesis, a long business plan, or a detailed report for work. If you try to use ChatGPT or any other AI tool for a task like this, you're going to run into trouble. These tools are not made to write long pieces all at once. Most of the time, they are designed to assist with smaller tasks, and you wouldn't ask an assistant to write a big long thesis for you. You usually ask for smaller tasks.

In this lesson, I'm going to show you how to write anything you want using ChatGPT while keeping control of the output.

‍Using AI Ethically and Effectively
‍One important thing to mention before we get started, which is critical for getting a good output and is also important from an ethical perspective, is that you should use ChatGPT or GenAI tools to automate writing, not thinking. You have to keep ownership and control over your thinking and what is put into those pages. ChatGPT is going to be your writing assistant.

To do this exercise, we're going to use three different tabs: two ChatGPT tabs and one Google Doc or Word file. The document is where we'll put the content we like. I'm specifically using ChatGPT-4 for this exercise, but you can use any tool you prefer. The concepts still apply.

‍Practical Example: Writing a Thesis
‍Let's suppose I want to write a small thesis about the importance of AI in business. Most people might start by asking ChatGPT to "write a thesis about the impact of AI in business." If you look at the output, ChatGPT is not giving the entire thesis but a structure, which is actually pretty good. This is the strategy we're going to use: creating an outline and then focusing on each section.

For example, ask ChatGPT to provide the main sections of a thesis on AI's impact on business. Once you have the structure, you can focus on each section individually. When writing each section, it's crucial to maintain coherence. If you need background information or want to brainstorm ideas, use a separate ChatGPT chat. Once you have the content you like, copy it into your main document. This ensures that each section flows logically and maintains a consistent style.

Devi mantenere la proprietà e il controllo sul tuo pensiero, su ciò che verrà inserito in quelle pagine. ChatGPT sarà il tuo assistente alla scrittura.

‍Come Fare
‍Per fare questo esercizio, utilizzeremo tre schede diverse: due schede ChatGPT e un file Google Doc o Word, qualunque sia, sarà un documento in cui inseriremo il contenuto che ci piace. Sto utilizzando specificamente ChatGPT-4 per questo esercizio, ma puoi usare qualsiasi strumento desideri. Puoi usare Gemini, Perplexity o qualsiasi altro strumento. I concetti sono ancora validi, ma ChatGPT-4 è il mio strumento preferito, quindi è quello che userò.
